SMART4ENV UVIC SUMMER SCHOOL

BETA Technological Center (BETA) is proud to announce the SMART4ENV 2nd Summer School, focusing on “Strategies for Adapting to and Mitigating the Effects of Climate Change in the Agricultural Sector.” This intensive three-day program will be held from April 24th to 26th, 2024, at the University of Vic (UVIC) in a hybrid format, welcoming both in-person and online participation.

The summer school is designed for undergraduate, Master, and PhD students, Industrial professionals and farmers to explore sustainable solutions for agriculture in the face of climate change. Led by experts from BETA and SMART4ENV experts, the program delves into various topics, including:

  • Nutrient management: Learn about nutrient recovery techniques for soil degradation, regenerative agriculture practices, and improved management of carbon stocks.
  • Sustainable practices: Explore the use of biofertilizers and organic farming methods, alongside digital tools for soil and fertilizer management.
  • Water management: Gain insights into smart monitoring and management systems for sustainable fertilization, waste valorization techniques for soil health, and digital irrigation and water management strategies.
  • Nature-based solutions: Discover how to treat and reclaim water using natural methods and explore the digitalization of water management systems.

The SMART4ENV Summer School provides a special opportunity for students to acquire valuable knowledge and practical skills to tackle climate challenges in agriculture. By imparting participants with an understanding of sustainable nutrient, fertilizer, and water management, the summer school will empower them to better grasp the strategies for adapting to and mitigating the effects of climate change in the agricultural sector.

The program features a blend of lectures, interactive discussions, and hands-on activities, providing a comprehensive learning experience. With limited spots available for only 15 participants, interested individuals are encouraged to apply early.
